Security guard convicted of raping his niece – FBC News

A 58-year-old security guard was sentenced to 12 years and 11 months in prison for raping his niece.

The incident occurred in December 2022, when the victim was just 11 years old.

The Suva High Court found that the man had manipulated the victim and that the incidents were planned as they all occurred when the two were alone in his house.

The Supreme Court judge heard that the man committed the offences by exploiting his authority as her elderly relative and using threats and intimidation to silence her.

He must spend 10 years, 11 months and 28 days behind bars before he can be released on parole.
