One dead after fatal collision between two vehicles on Kentucky Highway 70

CENTRAL CITY, Ky. (WBKO) – On July 2 at 2:51 p.m., Kentucky State Police Post 2 was contacted by the Muhlenberg County Sheriff’s Office to investigate a fatal two-vehicle crash on Kentucky Highway 70 West near Central City.

According to the press release, the preliminary investigation revealed that 61-year-old Quinton E. Basham of Bremen was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt eastbound on Kentucky 70 and 67-year-old Tammy W. Harris of Central City was driving a 2020 Buick Encore westbound.

For unknown reasons, Harris veered onto the eastbound lane and collided head-on with the Basham.

Basham was pronounced dead at the scene by the Muhlenberg County Coroner. Harris was flown from the scene to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.

The investigation is being continued by accident reconstructionist Nathan Pedigo.
