State police investigate motorcycle accident in Marcy

On July 2, 2024 at 7:11 a.m., State Police responded to a car-motorcycle accident with personal injury at Old River Road and Joe Kelly Memorial Road in the Town of Marcy.

A preliminary investigation has determined that a 2023 Kia, driven by Julius J. Daniels, age 35, of Rome, NY, was traveling eastbound on Old River Road in the Town of Marcy when he attempted to make a left turn onto Joe Kelly Memorial Road and failed to notice a 2003 Yamaha Chappy motorcycle traveling westbound on Old River Road. The motorcyclist, Michael J. Sweezey, age 38, of Whitesboro, NY, was ejected from the motorcycle and transported to Upstate Hospital with non-life threatening serious injuries.

Daniels was not injured in the accident.

The investigation is ongoing.
