Child killed in three-car crash allegedly caused by drunk mother in Detroit

DETROIT — A 4-year-old boy was killed in a three-car crash in Detroit that was allegedly caused by his drunken mother.

The accident occurred at 1:10 p.m. Monday (May 6) at North I-75 and Piquette Avenue.

Officials say the child’s 30-year-old mother was the at-fault driver and that the child was not properly restrained before the accident.

“This crash is being investigated by the MSP Crash Reconstruction Unit and Metro South Post,” said F/Lt Mike Shaw. “There are still a few things that need to be done and an investigator’s report will be submitted to the prosecutor when completed.”
