Woman wearing ironic T-shirt attacks MTA bus driver in Harlem

According to police, an unruly passenger on a city bus in Harlem attempted to throw an object at the bus driver in April.

According to law enforcement sources, the incident occurred on a bus near Seventh Avenue and West 143rd Street around 6:40 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9. Police could not confirm the name of the bus.

According to police sources, a passenger argued with the driver about whether the bus was operating or not. It is unclear if the bus was moving at the time, but the argument escalated when the perpetrator attempted to throw a pair of large blue headphones at the driver.

In an attempt to protect himself, the driver hit the dashboard of the bus with his knee, causing minor injuries, official sources said.

The suspect then fled the scene before officers from the 32nd Precinct arrived. EMS responded and transported the victim to NYC Health and Hospitals/Harlem in stable condition.

Police released a surveillance photo of the bus passenger on Thursday.

No arrests have been made so far, but investigations are ongoing.

In February, an MTA bus driver in the Bronx was attacked when a man hit him with an umbrella. That same month, an MTA station worker was attacked while checking on a man sleeping under a bench at the Wall Street station on the 4 and 5 subway lines. She suffered a fractured eye socket in the attack.
