Illegal immigrant charged with raping 13-year-old NYC girl, previously caught by border police, released into the US

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed to Fox News that the Ecuadorian illegal immigrant accused of raping a 13-year-old girl in New York City was captured by Border Patrol in Eagle Pass, Texas, in June 2021 and subsequently released into the U.S. with a future court date.

In addition, the agency confirmed in a statement to Fox News’ Bill Melugin that an immigration judge ordered the deportation of 25-year-old Christian Geovanny Inga-Landi in February 2022, but it never happened.

Inga-Landi is on ICE’s non-detainer caseload, which has exploded to 7.4 million cases this week, according to Fox News, with each ICE officer currently handling an average of 7,000 cases.

On June 18, New York police arrested Inga-Landi as a suspect in the sexual abuse of a 13-year-old girl in Queens. He also faces several other charges.

Christian Geovanny Inga-Landi, 25, is escorted out of the NYPD’s 112th Precinct on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. Inga is accused of rape and child abduction, among other charges, stemming from the sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl in a park on Thursday.

Based on surveillance videos from the area, police were able to identify Inga-Landi as the main suspect after receiving numerous tips about his whereabouts.

He was eventually arrested after a group of neighbors recognized him from a wanted poster. About ten people detained him until police arrived early Tuesday morning and arrested him.

On the same day, New York’s Enforcement and Removal Operations Department obtained an immigration warrant for his release.

ICE confirmed that Christian Geovanny Inga-Landi, a 25-year-old illegal migrant from Ecuador, was previously arrested by Border Patrol in Eagle Pass, Texas, in June 2021 and released to the United States with a summons.

Inga-Landi was no stranger to law enforcement.

The migrant had several minor criminal records, including fare overcharging on the subway and drinking alcohol in public. Police said he was also involved in a domestic violence incident, for which no charges were filed, and he had one unspecified arrest. in Texas.
