Accident involving Chevrolet pickup truck and stolen motorcycle ends in death

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A West Valley intersection was blocked for more than five hours after a fatal motorcycle crash.

Around 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police officers responded to a crash in the Alta and Buffalo area.

Police say a stolen 2021 Kawasaki motorcycle was traveling north from Buffalo. A 2002 Chevrolet Express van was traveling south on Buffalo in the left turn lane. When the van turned left onto Alta, the motorcycle reached the intersection but failed to stop at the red light.

The motorcycle struck the side of the pickup truck, continued north and overturned, ejecting the driver. The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment.

The Kawasaki rider’s death marks the 76th traffic-related fatality in Las Vegas Metropolitan Police jurisdiction in 2024. The collision remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Collision Investigation Section. the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
