Metropolitan Police officer remanded in custody for rape

A Metropolitan Police officer has appeared in court charged with rape.

PC Adam Zaman, 28, of Kingston Road, Romford, appeared before District Judge Snow at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday

Zaman, who was represented by Ricky Blennerhassett, is accused of raping a woman at the Andaz Hotel in Liverpool Street, central London, on Sunday.

He denies the allegations made by prosecutor Jonathan Bryan.

Mr Bryan told the court that the defendant was off duty at the time of the alleged offence.

During the 15-minute hearing, Zaman only confirmed his name, date of birth and address.

District Judge Snow told him he would remain in custody until his next appearance before the Central Criminal Court on 24 November.

The court heard that Zaman was suspended from his post at the Metropolitan Police, which he had held since 2016.
