Boxer Ryan Garcia arrested for alleged vandalism at a Beverly Hills hotel

Boxing star Ryan Garcia was arrested on Saturday at a Beverly Hills hotel for suspected vandalism.

Garcia, 25, was at the Waldorf Astoria, where he caused an estimated $15,000 in damage, according to TMZ.

Beverly Hills police arrived at the hotel around 5:45 p.m. after the boxer allegedly damaged hotel property, including in his room and in a hallway.

When officers arrived, the hotel decided to press charges. It’s unclear what led to the violence, but he may have been under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, TMZ reports.

Photos obtained by witnesses showed Garcia being led to a patrol car shirtless and wearing a black motorcycle helmet.

Garcia was arrested by police and detained on suspicion of vandalism. He was released later Saturday night.

He is currently facing a suspension from the New York Athletic Commission after testing positive for the banned substance Ostarine before his surprise win over Devin Haney in April.

ESPN reported, citing a letter from the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association, that Garcia tested positive for the performance-enhancing substance Ostarine the day before and on the day of the fight on April 20.

Ostarine is a selective androgen receptor modulator and its use can stimulate muscle growth. It is banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency.

In a video posted on X, Garcia strongly denied violating the rules.

“I’ve never taken steroids in my life,” Garcia said. “I don’t even know where to get steroids. In the end, I hardly take any supplements.”

If the positive doping test is confirmed, Garcia’s victory could be annulled.

No further details about the incident in Beverly Hills were released.
