Police identify man and woman killed in murder-suicide

Police have released further details about a suspected murder-suicide that occurred in Belmont on Tuesday.

According to Belmont police, a man and a woman were found dead at the Chronicle Mill Apartments on East Catawba Street around 3:50 p.m.

Investigators now believe the two people were 61-year-old Roseanne Hayes and 60-year-old Marshall Lee McRoberts.

The investigation revealed that both persons had suffered fatal gunshot wounds.

Captain Matthew Sherrill said the two apparently met because they both lived in the apartments.
