20 Buffalo Area Farmers Markets for Fresh Produce and Goods

Who doesn’t love a BLT with perfectly ripe tomatoes? Or a bowl of sweet, juicy cherries? Or a buttered corn cob?

Fresh, local produce stands are popping up every day of the week in parking lots and parks across the Buffalo area through fall.

Find seasonal fruits and vegetables, locally raised meats, honey, frozen foods, baked goods and wine, among other products, at a farmers market this spring and summer.

Here are some suggestions.

The Alden Farmers Market has moved to Alden Town Park, where there are restrooms, a covered pavilion, a concession stand and a weekly car cruise. It takes place from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. every Monday until September 30.

Clinton Bailey Farmers Market

From May to the end of October, the market is open every day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Shop for local produce, flowers, plants, jams and pastries.

Clarence Hollow Farmers Market

Farmers, bakers, artisans and other vendors will set up shop at the market from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday until October. It is located right next to the Clarence cycle path.

Delavan-Grider Farmers Market

From 4 to 6:30 p.m. every Thursday through October, the Delavan-Grider Farmers Market sells fresh produce and fruit in the courtyard outside the Delavan-Grider Community Center. This season, the Downtown Country Market moved down Main Street a few blocks to a new location in Fountain Plaza (between Chippewa and Huron streets). From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Thursday from June 6 to October 24, vendors will sell items such as produce, kettle corn, fruit and jam.

East Aurora Farmers Market

Farms, food trucks, artisans and producers gather there from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Wednesday and Saturday until October. Find produce from Native Offerings Farm and Schwab Farmers Market, meats from Boies Farm and Hanzlian’s Homemade Sausage & Deli, plants and other items.

The Eden Farmers Market will take place from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. every Tuesday starting June 11. Food trucks Under Fire Pizza, The Mad Irons Cafe and Quinn City BBQ will rotate through the market throughout the season. Special festivities will be held for Children’s Day in June, Christmas in July and Health and Wellness Day in August.

Elmwood Village Farmers Market

Bidwell Drive and Elmwood Avenue

The farmers’ market, where each vendor has grown or made their own produce, is open 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays through November. Produce sellers include Erba Verde Farm, Erdle Farm, LynOaken Farms and Plato Dale Farm. Shop for locally produced wine, cider, mead, honey, baked goods, frozen meals, coffee and sauces.

In a grassy field behind the Moose Lodge, farmers and artisans set up shop from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday until October 26. Vendors rotate, but expect to find produce from places like Dirt Rich Farm, Hewitt’s Farm Fresh Produce. , Yager Farms and Urbanowicz Acres. You’ll also find vendors selling wine, tea, ice cream, pickles, and alpaca products.

2919 Delaware Avenue, Kenmore

From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Sunday from June 16 to October 27, vendors will set up in front of city hall to sell products such as asparagus, eggplant, rhubarb and meat.

Lewiston Artisan Farmers Market

Academy Park, Portage Road, Lewiston

Local produce comes from Senek Farms, Schul Farmstead and Thyme’s Right Organic Farm at this market, open 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday. Other products available include granola, pierogi, maple, pizza, wine and crafts.

Lockport Community Market

The Lockport Community Market runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays through October 19. Starting July 3, the market will also be open a second day of the week, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., every Wednesday until September 25. Produce vendors include Heartland Organic Produce and Local Roots Farm.

Massachusetts Avenue Project Mobile Market

The Massachusetts Avenue Project’s Mobile Market season begins June 4, bringing fresh, local produce to various locations across Buffalo. The “Farmers Market on Wheels” posts a weekly schedule of its upcoming stops on Facebook and Instagram (@massaveproject). MAP also sells produce at its urban farm’s Farmhouse Market from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursdays at 387 Massachusetts Ave.

Mrs. Frances Nash’s Garden Basket

Mrs. Frances Nash’s Garden Basket Farmers’ Market returns for its second year. From 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday through October 8, vendors will sell products in the parking lot of the Michigan Street African American Heritage Corridor Commission. Most markets celebrate a different theme, such as Pride, Juneteenth, healthy living and Hispanic heritage.

Although the century-old North Tonawanda Town Market is open year-round, seasonal produce picks up in the summer. Shop from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Providence Farm Collective Farmers Market

Choose from a selection of traditional market produce and specialty produce from Central and East Africa grown at Providence Farm Collective’s Orchard Park Farm. The market will feature 19 vendors and will return from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday from June 15 to October 26. New this year, SNAP participants can spend double their food dollars to reserve a weekly box of CSA produce.

South Buffalo Farmers Market

Cazenovia Park, 155 Cazenovia Drive

From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Sunday until September 29, the market brings together farmers, artisans, musicians and food trucks in front of the Cazenovia Park casino. Products are available from Harris Organic Farm & Greenhouse, Human Farms & Greenhouse and Weiss Farms.

6655 S. Transit Road, Lockport

The brand new farmers market, simply called The Market, opened Memorial Day weekend at the Transit Drive-In. It is open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday through September 1 and features a rotating group of all local vendors selling traditional farmers’ market products like produce, pickles, cured meats and olive oil, as well as jewelry, vintage clothing and personalized pet items. The Starlite Snack Bar and drive-thru mini golf course will be open.
