Allegan County man arrested for planned attack on minor in Kalamazoo Township

A 23-year-old Allegan County man was arrested Friday after authorities discovered he allegedly planned to sexually assault a minor in Kalamazoo Township, according to the Kalamazoo Township Police Department.

Michigan State Police notified the department that William Isaak Sparks, of Martin, made statements and inquiries online about wanting to attack a child at a specific location in the community, police said.

Police were able to locate Sparks at the suspected location and arrest him without incident. He is being held in the Kalamazoo County Jail on a charge of attempted second-degree sexual abuse, authorities said.

If convicted, Sparks faces up to five years in prison.

He was arraigned Tuesday and held on $150,000 cash or surety bond, police said.
