Atlanta teen accused of altering, depositing checks into multiple Alabama bank accounts – WSB-TV Channel 2

AUBURN, Ala. — A 19-year-old has been arrested in connection with an identity theft case.

On Jan. 2, Auburn police said they received a report of fraudulent checks.

Officers encountered a victim who reported that several checks had been sent to intended recipients from a location in Auburn in December 2023.

While in transit, authorities said the checks were stolen, altered and deposited into multiple bank accounts outside the jurisdiction of the Auburn Police Department.

Police identified Miranda Lauren Masone, 19, of Atlanta as the suspect.

She was found by College Park police and arrested. She is accused of identity theft and theft of property.

Masone waived extradition and was taken to the Auburn Police Department on Sunday. She was then booked into the Lee County Jail and held on $8,000 bail.
