Family identifies man killed in Oakhurst home. Detectives seek ‘person of interest’

The family of a man recently killed in Oakhurst has identified him, and the Madera County Sheriff’s Office said its officers are searching for a suspect, a spokesman confirmed Wednesday.

The victim was killed before noon Friday at his family’s home in the 42,000 block of Shady Lane, near Highway 41 and Route 222, officials confirmed.

The victim’s family identified him as Liam Moody, 27.

The sheriff’s office has released few details about what happened at the Foothills home where Moody lived with his parents and brother. A 911 call requesting medical help brought officers to the house before they determined it was homicide, according to a police department Facebook post Friday.

Investigators did not release any new details Wednesday but confirmed they are looking for a person for questioning, spokeswoman Kayla Gates said.

Investigators have identified Kaicey Bos as a suspect, she said, adding that the woman is wanted for questioning and is not considered a suspect in the murder case.

“In the meantime, investigators are continuing to investigate,” Gates said Wednesday. “The most important thing is that she (Bos) comes in.”

Gates said investigators declined Wednesday to say what connection Moody or his family had to Bos or whether they knew them.

A GoFundMe campaign to raise money for the Moodys had raised more than $35,000 as of Wednesday, with a stated goal of $100,000.

The family could not be immediately reached by The Fresno Bee, but the siblings of Moody’s mother, Dana, described on the fundraising page the hardships that burdened the Moodys even before the recent tragedy.

“Liam also followed in his mother’s footsteps with his kind soul, and everyone who knew him knew he was loving, generous, and helped anyone he could,” the GoFundMe page states. “He was taken from our family WAY too soon at the age of 27.”
