Fairfield Police release latest incident reports from May

Fairfield Police Chief Keith Colclasure released the department’s latest incident reports from May:

On May 26, at approximately 11:30 a.m., officers investigated a traffic crash involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian. The crash occurred at the intersection of W Delaware and S First Streets. The pedestrian, Peggy Rost, 81, of Fairfield, was walking east in the crosswalk. A 2018 Honda, driven by Ivan Pottorff, 89, of Fairfield, turned north on S First St and struck Rost. Rost was transported to Fairfield Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries. Pottorff was cited for failure to yield the right of way to a pedestrian.

On May 25, at approximately 11:30 p.m., officers responded to the 800 block of W Center Street to investigate a report of a trespasser. Officers located a Steven M. Thomas, 33, of Fairfield, wanted in Fayette County – Harassment (no bail); Clay County – Failure to Appear (no bail) and Wayne County – Failure to Appear for Methamphetamine Possession, Disturbing the Peace and Trespassing (no bail). Thomas was transported to the Wayne County Jail.

On May 25, at approximately 9:00 p.m., officers investigated a motor vehicle and pedestrian crash in the 1600 block of W Delaware. A 2023 Kia, driven by Derek L. Thomason, 25, of Fairfield, was traveling eastbound on W Delaware, veered north off the roadway and struck two pedestrians, a 26-year-old woman carrying a 2-year-old child. Both pedestrians were flown out by helicopter for treatment of their injuries. Thomason was arrested for driving under the influence and transported to the Wayne County Jail.

On May 24, at approximately 8:25 p.m., an officer observed Terry A. Hixenbaugh, 46, of Fairfield, on Tice Clevenger Drive. Hixenbaugh was known to be wanted on a Wayne County warrant for aggravated assault. Hixenbaugh was stopped, arrested, and transported to the Wayne County Jail pending his court appearance.
