Two Italians who filmed themselves raping a 23-year-old woman were each sentenced to seven and a half years in prison

Two Italians who filmed themselves brutally raping a 23-year-old woman in a London nightclub have each been sentenced to seven and a half years in prison.

Ferdinando Orlando, 25, and Lorenzo Costanzo, 26, raped the victim in the maintenance room of the Toy Room Club in Argyll Street, Soho, in the early hours of February 26, 2017.

Surveillance cameras showed the men high-fiving each other after the attack and later watching the attack on their smartphones.

The woman had to undergo surgery after the rape.

Police have released the following surveillance camera footage showing the two men after the attack:

The security camera caught the men kissing the visibly intoxicated victim and then leading her to the maintenance room, just minutes after meeting her at the club.

She remained in the toilet for over an hour after the attack until the staff found her in severe pain.

A couple who were at the club helped the woman home, but she was later taken to hospital where she had to undergo surgery.

The suspects had claimed that they both had consensual sex with the victim.

Both men subsequently returned to Italy and it was a year before Costanzo was finally arrested when he returned to the UK to watch a football match in London.

Orlando was arrested at a later date when he flew back as agreed after contacting the police.

After a trial, both were found guilty of two counts of rape each.

Detective Sergeant Rebecca Woodsford, the lead investigator who has led the investigation since 2017, said: “Today’s outcome is the best possible outcome of a truly traumatic experience for the victim, who suffered serious injuries which led her to suspect she may have been raped.”
