General Hospital actor Johnny Wactor, 37, shot dead in suspected theft in LA

Veteran soap opera actor Johnny Wactor, best known for his role as Brando Corbin on General Hospital, was tragically shot and killed early Saturday morning in Los Angeles. According to TMZ, which cited Wactor’s mother and police, the 37-year-old actor was shot and killed in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday morning after he and one of his friends observed three people attempting to steal his car’s catalytic converter.

Johnny Wactor’s mother, Scarlett Wactor, told TMZ that the actor did not resist when he confronted the suspects, but was shot anyway while all three fled the scene. No arrests have been made yet. According to an LAPD report, a man was shot near the intersection of Pico Boulevard and Hope Street around 3:00 a.m. on Saturday. The victim reportedly interrupted a theft in progress when three suspects attempted to steal the catalytic converter from his car. Wactor was pronounced dead by the local hospital shortly after 3:00 a.m.

“Siberia” star Johnny Wactor dies at 37, Hollywood mourns

The actor, known for his roles in supernatural series such as “Siberia” and “Criminal Minds,” has passed away, leaving behind his mother and two younger siblings. Johnny burst onto the acting scene in 2007 with the television series “Army Wives.” Over time, he tried out various roles before finding his way into acting. His all-time favorite series include “The Westworld,” “The OA,” “NCIS,” “Station 19,” and “Hollywood Girl,” among others, but his breakthrough role came with his role in “General Hospital.”

Johnny’s death was confirmed by his talent agent David Shaul, who said in a statement to Variety: “Johnny Wactor was a spectacular human being. Not only a talented actor dedicated to his craft, but a true moral role model to all who knew him. He represented hard work, tenacity and a never-give-up attitude. Through the ups and downs of a demanding profession, he always kept his head up and continued to strive to be the best he could be.” He added: “Our time with Johnny was a privilege we would wish on anyone. He would literally give you the shirt off his back. After over a decade together, he will forever leave a hole in our hearts.”
