Pickpocket couple known for Broadway thefts arrested, police said

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A suspected Texas couple accused of pickpocketing and repeatedly stealing from unsuspecting patrons of downtown Nashville bars have been arrested, according to Metro Nashville Police.

Miledis Gomez Fonseca, 30, and Andy Alberti Diaz, 40, are now in custody in lieu of $80,000 bail each after security guards at Jason Aldean’s bar on Broadway spotted them inside the establishment at 1:30 a.m. and alerted police. Police said MNPD investigators had been working for weeks to identify the pair after they were spotted on surveillance video committing robberies downtown and throughout Middle Tennessee.

According to investigators, the couple is known to use stolen credit cards to make purchases at retailers across the state of Tennessee.

“When asked during an interview if she had stolen property on her this morning, Fonseca stated that she had four cell phones and two wallets in her purse that she had stolen from patrons at the Jason Aldean and Kid Rock bars earlier that evening,” MNPD said in a news release. “This morning, investigators were able to return the wallets and three of the cell phones to their rightful owners.”

Further charges are expected against the couple as the investigation continues. Police are urging patrons of bars and entertainment venues in Nashville to carry valuables, including cell phones and wallets, with them at all times.

“Never put handbags down or hang them over the backs of chairs or bar stools,” police said.
