T’PURAM: Fort police have arrested two persons in connection with the sexual assault of a minor boy and a 39-year-old woman in two separate incidents. In the first case, 45-year-old Chandrodayan from Kalliyoor was arrested for sexually abusing a 14-year-old boy. He was charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. After appearing before the judge, he was remanded in custody for 14 days.

In the second case, police arrested 55-year-old Vijayakumar alias Manikandan from Kannammoola for allegedly taking a 39-year-old woman to a hotel room and sexually assaulting her. He was charged under Section 376 (punishment for rape) of the IPC. He is the second accused in the case and was remanded in custody for 14 days.

According to police, the investigation is still ongoing. They are trying to find out whether other people were involved in the crime.

Man arrested for extortion:

In another case, the Fort police arrested a 22-year-old man, Pramod of Mukkolakkal, for attacking a man and extorting Rs 2,300 from him at Parambil Junction on May 7. According to the police, the accused had some personal enmity with the victim.
