Guinness Heads to Buffalo to Attempt Chicken Wing Record

A new world record could be set in Buffalo, New York.

Before we begin, when we say “Buffalo, New York,” we mean all of Western New York State. The world record attempt taking place this weekend is actually at Bemus Point, about an hour away.

The birthplace of the chicken wing is Buffalo, New York, and the Village Casino at Bemus Point will attempt to serve the largest amount of chicken wings ever seen in a 24-hour period. The chicken wings will cost $1 each and all money raised will go to the Bemus Point Volleyball Tournament.

They held that record for years. In fact, they broke their own record once after that. Weitzel’s Wings in Laramie, Wyoming sold 48,083 Buffalo wings. In case you were wondering, that’s where Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen went to college.

Today, the Village Casino at Bemus Point is trying to reclaim the record, but make it untouchable. They’re going to try to serve 55,000 chicken wings.

They are also asking the Buffalo Bills to show up as well!

The restaurant said it recognized the Buffalo Bills were in the middle of their preseason, but would be returning from Rochester where they are currently in training camp. The Buffalo Bills will host the Red & Blue’s practice game at Highmark Stadium on Friday. Tickets are “sold out” and have been claimed for Friday’s event. Tickets were free.
