Man who allegedly raped his partner’s niece has died

A 33-year-old man accused of raping his partner’s niece died after being shot by police for allegedly attempting to attack officers and resist arrest.

Officers from the Argao Police Station led by Station Commander Major Janus Giangan conducted a chase after the victim’s mother reported that her daughter had been sexually abused several times by her uncle.

During the operation, police officers allegedly ordered the perpetrator to surrender, but he refused. Instead, he pulled out a butcher knife and tried to stab them, but missed.

The police returned fire at the perpetrator and killed him.

At around 6 a.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2023, the mother and the 21-year-old victim went to the police station to report the incident after she reported that the perpetrator had sexually assaulted her sometime before 4 a.m.
