Belgian media reported, citing sources, that the 14-year-old was held hostage in the forest for at least two days and raped multiple times by her boyfriend’s friends. The accused boys also filmed the attack and posted the clips on social media sites, sparking widespread outrage in the country.

According to Nieuwsblad, a Belgian news agency, the defendants took turns sexually abusing the victim and all people involved in the attack participated “to a greater or lesser extent,” adding that the suspects were believed to be young immigrants Origin”.

Authorities said six of the defendants were placed in a locked institution while the other four were placed under house arrest.

“The youngest suspect is 11 years old. Because the suspects are so young, we don’t release much information. However, they have all been identified and arrested and the juvenile court has taken action,” VRT News quoted Tom Janssens of the West Flemish Public Prosecutor’s Office as saying.

Meanwhile, the victim receives expert advice and counseling after his nightmarish ordeal.

“Our attention now is primarily on the victim. She will be advised,” said Janssens.

Police have launched an investigation in the case to determine the extent of each suspect’s involvement in the girl’s sexual abuse, officials said.
