At least 1 dead and 6 injured in mass shooting in park in Rochester, NY

According to reports, shootings occurred in a Rochester park on Sunday evening, leaving at least one person dead and six others injured.

According to Rochester First, a 20-year-old man was killed after the shooting in Maplewood Park around 6:20 p.m., while another person is in critical condition, Rochester police said.

Authorities said five more victims were taken to a hospital in northern New York with minor injuries.

A heavy volley of gunfire interrupted a large gathering in the park, causing the crowd to erupt in chaos, according to an alleged video of the shooting posted on social media.

Further information about the victims and the shooting, including the number of suspects, was not immediately available.

“At this point, we don’t know how many people shot,” Rochester Police Captain Greg Bello said, according to the station. “We’re trying to find out. We’re trying to interview as many witnesses as possible.”

No arrests were made.
