Ashtabula: Pilot killed in plane crash

ASHTABULA, Ohio – A pilot was killed in a plane crash that occurred Sunday evening in Harpersfield Township in Ashtabula County.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, their Warren Dispatch Center received a call just before 6 p.m. about a plane crash that had occurred near the Mini Ranch Trail south of Clay Street. When troopers arrived at the scene, they discovered that a single-engine fixed-wing aircraft had crashed east of the Germack Airport runway.

The pilot was the plane’s only passenger and died in the crash.

The OSHP investigation is ongoing, while the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has been requested to attend the scene and conduct an independent investigation.
