One dead, one arrested after stabbing in Brockton – Boston 25 News

BROCKTON, Massachusetts – One man is dead and another man is in custody following a stabbing in Brockton Saturday night.

Police responded to a reported stabbing in a park at the intersection of Crescent and Montello Street around 6:13 p.m.

Officers found 39-year-old Edmar Goncalves of Fall River suffering from stab wounds. Goncalves was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead.

Brockton police identified 36-year-old Johnny Richmond, the suspect in the stabbing, at the scene and arrested him.

Brockton police contacted Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and launched an investigation. The investigation is ongoing, but officials say the incident does not appear to be random.
