Man found dead after disappearing in pond in Lakeville

A man in his 60s was found dead Saturday night after disappearing into a pond in Lakeville, police said.

Lakeville officers responded to Long Pond shortly before 5 p.m. after receiving a request from Massachusetts Environmental Police to send a dive team and police boat to help search for a missing man, police said in a news release. The man had reportedly disappeared from the pond earlier in the day.

The man was found around 5:45 p.m., police said. Paramedics tried to resuscitate him, but he was soon pronounced dead.

The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office is investigating the man’s death, police said. It is unclear whether the man drowned or was found in the water.

No further information, including the man’s identity, has been released.
