Citrus Heights father sends burglar to hospital after attack on children

Protecting his family was the only thing on Bobby Tucker’s mind when he saw a stranger attack his children in his Citrus Heights home. “I heard the commotion and screams of my son. I ran out to protect my family,” Tucker said. His doorbell camera captured the moment an unidentified man entered his home Thursday night. “He was choking my 14-year-old,” Tucker said. Tucker said the man also punched his 11-year-old in the face several times. He was in the back of the house when he heard the attack and rushed to protect his children. “While we were fighting and wrestling, he was just growling and screaming,” Tucker said. Citrus Heights police arrived and arrested the 29-year-old man, whose identity has not yet been released. Officers took him out of the home on a stretcher and then to a hospital. Tucker and his children are recovering from their injuries, but their biggest challenge is feeling safe again. “Your home is supposed to be your sanctuary. When that’s violated, you feel a certain way,” Tucker said. The father said his door was unlocked because his children had just taken out the trash. He warns other parents to keep an eye out. “Make sure your doors are locked and protect your family at all costs,” Tucker said. Citrus Heights police said they will refer the case to the district attorney’s office, and the man faces charges of aggravated assault and burglary.
