Man accused of sexually abusing his daughter released | News

A 40-year-old man accused of sexually abusing his daughter was released Friday in St. Catherine Parish Court after a successful not-indictment.

He was accused of sexual touching a child, child abuse, indecent assault and aggravated sexual assault.

When the matter was raised on Friday, attorney Chadwick Berry claimed the witness had lied in her testimony.

The prosecution also acknowledged that the defendant should not have been asked to answer the charges and he was subsequently released.

In 2022, the plaintiff, then 14 years old, stated that the defendant had sexually harassed her.

The Center for the Investigation of Sexual Offenses and Child Abuse launched an investigation, the accused was arrested and subsequently charged.
