1 arrested, charged with attempted murder in Folsom

Just before 8 p.m. Tuesday, Folsom police responded to a crash involving an SUV and a motorcycle at the corner of East Bidwell Street and Iron Point Road.

FOLSOM, Calif. – A man was arrested in Folsom on suspicion of attempted murder Tuesday after allegedly driving an SUV into a motorcycle, authorities said.

Shortly before 8 p.m., several callers alerted Folsom police to an accident involving an SUV and a motorcycle at the corner of East Bidwell Street and Iron Point Road, according to a police press release on Facebook.

Police and other emergency responders responded and said an investigation revealed the SUV driver allegedly intentionally struck the motorcyclist.

The motorcyclist suffered only a broken ankle and minor injuries, police said.

Police said Anders Blair Erickson, 23, of Folsom, was identified as the SUV driver and arrested on attempted murder charges. He was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail early Wednesday morning, jail records show.

He is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and is not eligible for bail, records show. He is scheduled to appear in Sacramento County Superior Court on Thursday afternoon.

“Thank you to the many (people) who stopped to help and waited for emergency responders to arrive,” the department said.

While the video is disturbing, the driver only suffered a broken ankle and minor injuries. Thank you to the several people who stopped to help and waited for emergency responders to arrive. The driver of the SUV, Anders Erikson, 23, of Folsom, was booked into the Sacramento County Jail on attempted murder charges. Because the case has not yet been adjudicated, no further details about the incident will be released.
