Three Buffalo men convicted of violent assault

Three Buffalo men were sentenced Wednesday in a brutal attack on a man on Broadway Avenue that left the victim with serious injuries and placed him in a long-term care facility.

Brothers Amonti Atkins and Amari Atkins, along with their uncle Demetrius Gore, pleaded guilty to felonies related to the attack outside a bottle redemption center in August 2023. After an argument, the brothers punched and kicked the victim as she lay on the ground after being stabbed in the face by Amonti Atkins. Gore kicked the victim in the back and stomped on her face twice, according to a news release from the Erie County District Attorney’s Office.

Amonti Atkins, 24, pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault and first-degree gang assault. He was sentenced to 12 1/2 years in prison and five years of post-release supervision.
