Buffalo Bills Star Dion Dawkins Hosts 716-Day Event at MLK Park

Buffalo is a city full of people who truly love their community. You can see that every day when you drive through the neighborhoods of Western New York. We are fortunate to have many people in the area who love Buffalo.

This was fully manifested on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, when Western New York celebrated the 716th Day.

716 Day, which comes from Buffalo’s area code numbers, is celebrated every year on July 16th, and Buffalons near and far do all sorts of things. Retail stores and restaurants offer special discounts to locals. Community groups organize all sorts of fun, family-friendly activities to help people express their love for Buffalo, which was at the forefront thanks to one of Buffalo’s biggest donors.

When he’s not taking care of defenders while protecting Josh Allen on the field, NFL All-Star Dion Dawkins is doing his part to ensure Buffalo is honored and celebrated. In honor of 716 Day, through his Dion’s Dreamers Foundation, Dawkins partnered with Trusted Gives to host 716 CommUNITY Day at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Park on Buffalo’s east side.

Community Day featured many fun activities for children and families. Dozens of non-profit organizations and community groups were on hand to help people build their communities and support each other.

Several restaurants, including Fat Bobs BBQ, Audley’s Caribbean Cuisine, Illio Di Paolos, BW’s Chicken BBQ and more, offered free food and drinks. All sorts of healthy foods, like fruits and vegetables, were available, as well as free clothing and household products. Park residents got free haircuts, and groups donated 50 bicycles to children in attendance.
