Boy injured in storm-related accident in Christiana, Tennessee

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – The son of a Rutherford County school principal was critically injured in a storm-related accident in Christiana, Tennessee, Wednesday evening.

Dr. James Sullivan’s 10-year-old son was involved in an accident during the storm when he was pulled into a sewer.

Dr. Sullivan took to social media to ask for prayers for his youngest son, Asher.

While neighbors helped pick up debris, rebuild fences, etc., neighborhood children played in the water on the street. Somehow, Asher ended up in the sewer and was washed beneath the neighborhood streets. Eventually he emerged into a drainage ditch and resuscitation efforts were carried out for quite some time. His heartbeat has been restored, but the damage is extensive. We are currently at Vanderbilt after being transported from Ascension.

Dr. Sullivan said Asher’s lungs were severely damaged and he wasn’t showing much brain activity other than muscle twitches. He asked for prayers for Asher’s lungs to heal and for his brain activity to return.

He ended his statement with, “Asher needs a miracle.”

A prayer vigil for Asher will be held at the Rutherford County Schools district office, 2240 Southpark Drive in Murfreesboro, at 2 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend and show their support for the Sullivan family.

Gov. Bill Lee said he reached out to Dr. Asher after Asher’s accident. Sullivan turned.

No further information was immediately released.
