The Los Angeles County District Attorney has charged a man with allegedly sexually assaulting a UCLA student at the Saxon Suites.

Jeffery Brewer Jr., 41, who allegedly broke into the Saxon Suites on Friday and sexually assaulted a female student, was charged Wednesday with sexual penetration with force and first-degree residential burglary, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

“The brutal and violent sexual assault this survivor suffered at the hands of the alleged suspect is deeply disturbing and incomprehensible,” said District Attorney George Gascón in the press release. “We are committed to ensuring that the perpetrator faces appropriate consequences for his actions and that justice is served.”

Brewer was reportedly loitering outside the Saxon Suites around 1:30 a.m. Friday. He then knocked on one of the suite doors and was let in by a student, but left the building when a student asked him to leave, the release said.

At around 2:40 a.m., Brewer allegedly broke into another apartment at the Saxon Suites, where he sexually assaulted a female student, according to the press release.

UCPD Lt. James Echols said in an emailed statement that campus security officers, as well as private security guards and dormitory security guards, patrol the hill and that UCPD has increased its routine police patrols in the area since the incident.

Brewer was arraigned on Monday and pleaded guilty to all charges. He faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison plus six years in prison, the press release said.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 13 in airport court.
