Shooting in South Loop, Chicago: Police report man killed and woman injured in the 100 block of East 21st Street

CHICAGO (WLS) — A man was killed and a woman injured in a drive-by shooting on the South Side on Saturday night, Chicago police said.

Police said the shooting occurred shortly before 11:15 p.m. in the 100 block of East 21st Street in the South Loop neighborhood.

A 26-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were walking on the sidewalk when a white SUV stopped and someone inside fired shots, police said.

Police said the man, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his body, was taken to Northwestern Hospital in critical condition, where he was pronounced dead.

The woman with the gunshot wound to the leg was taken to the same hospital in good condition.

No one is in custody and detectives from Area Three are investigating.

Police did not initially provide any further information about the shooting.
