Two people charged after domestic incident involving firearm in Albany

ALBANY – Two men are facing charges following a domestic incident involving a firearm in Albany, according to state police.

Kyle Doherty, 24, of Newport, was arrested for first-degree aggravated domestic violence and burglary. William Doherty, 61, of Albany, was charged with reckless endangerment.

The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. today on Bonneau Road in Albany. Vermont State Police and the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of domestic violence, burglary and firearms use.

Authorities say Kyle Doherty assaulted a victim and broke into a residence. William Doherty is accused of discharging a firearm in an unsafe manner. No serious injuries were reported.

Kyle Doherty was taken to Derby Barracks and later released with a summons. William Doherty was summoned to appear in court.
