19-year-old driver dead after fatal accident in Zion National Park

ZION NATIONAL PARK, Utah — A 19-year-old man died in a crash involving a motorcycle and a car in Zion National Park’s Mt. Carmel Tunnel Thursday night. Officials are still investigating the incident.

On the evening of July 4, officers received a report of an accident involving a motorcycle in the Zion-Mount Carmel Tunnel. Upon arrival, medical teams performed CPR on the patient before receiving orders to discontinue further resuscitation efforts.

“All of us at Zion National Park extend our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased for their tragic loss,” said Deputy Superintendent Bry Carter.

The tunnel was briefly closed during the incident but has since been reopened.
