Southern California father shot dead in front of his family, shooter at large

Police are searching for a suspect who shot a man while he was walking with his family in Covina.

The incident occurred on June 22 at around 9:35 p.m. near the 1100 block of East Wanamaker Drive, according to Covina police.


The victim, a 28-year-old man, was traveling with his wife and their three children – an eleven-year-old girl and nine-year-old twin boys.

Suddenly, a male suspect approached them and stood between the victim and his wife, which led to a verbal argument.

The suspect then pulled a gun from his waistband and fired two shots at the victim, police said.

The victim was shot in the chest and the shooter immediately fled the area.

Officers arrived at the scene and performed life-saving measures on the man before he was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The circumstances of the fatal shooting remain under investigation. A police sketch of the suspect has been released in the hope that someone will recognize him.

The shooter is described as a Hispanic man, approximately 20 to 25 years old. He is approximately 5’5″ tall and has a slim build.
