Chicago woman arrested after threatening and biting ISP police officer – 95.3 MNC

A Chicago woman was arrested after threatening and biting an Indiana State Police officer during a traffic stop.

On Saturday, June 29, at approximately 6:40 p.m., Trooper Justin Baumeister was patrolling I-94 when he saw a silver Hyundai speeding. The car, with Illinois plates, was traveling 105 mph in a 70 mph zone, weaving without signaling and passing on the right. Trooper Baumeister turned on his lights and, after a brief delay, stopped the car.

The driver, Shelby E. Foster, 22, of Chicago, showed signs of intoxication and became verbally aggressive. She claimed her relative was a Chicago police officer and told the officer to call him. When Baumeister searched her purse, he found two fake Illinois identification cards.

On the way to the Porter County Jail, Foster managed to remove one of her handcuffs. When Baumeister stopped to detain her, she resisted and bit his right arm. After he re-cuffed her, Baumeister continued to the jail, where she threatened him and his family and refused to submit to a chemical test. She also spat at a correctional officer during the booking.

Foster is provisionally accused of the following crimes:

Assault by Bodily Fluids (2 counts) – Level 6 Serious Felony

Intimidation – Level 6 Serious Crime

Assault on a public safety officer in the course of his official duties – Level 6 felony

Resisting Law Enforcement – ​​Class A Misdemeanor

Reckless Driving – Class A Misdemeanor

Driving under the influence of alcohol and endangering a person – Class A misdemeanor

Disorderly Conduct – Class B Misdemeanor

Driving under the influence of alcohol – Class C misdemeanor

Possession of false identification – Class C misdemeanor
