Madison County Sheriff: No charges expected after ‘horrific accident’ that resulted in child’s death in body of water | News

A missing 5-year-old child is dead after being found in a body of water in Harvest Sunday evening, according to the Madison County coroner.

Dr. Tyler H. Berryhill said the child was taken to Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children, where he was later pronounced dead.

The investigation is ongoing and the coroner says an autopsy has been ordered.

“We are investigating and working hard and do not believe there is any criminal involvement,” said Brent Patterson, spokesman for the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.

“We will know more once the autopsy results are available, but we do not expect any changes at this time.

“This is a terrible accident. We cannot imagine what the family is going through and our thoughts and prayers are with the family.”
