Ashley Judd met her rapist for a “conversation about making amends”

Ashley Judd has revealed that she once met with her rapist to have a “conversation about restorative justice.”

The “Double Jeopardy” actress revealed to grief expert David Kessler on his podcast “Healing with David Kessler” that she met the man who raped her in 1999 and that they “ended up sitting together in rocking chairs by a creek.”

The 54-year-old explained that she “does not need his cooperation” or “his making amends” to get over her condition because she has done her “grief work,” but she wants to hear his side of the story.

“I tried to find him, he showed up quite easily and long story short, we ended up together in rocking chairs by a creek,” she recalled. “And I said, ‘I’m very interested to hear the story that you’ve been carrying with you all these years.’ And we had a conversation about making amends.”

She further stated that the man expressed “deep remorse” during the conversation.

“I wanted to share this story because there are many ways to process grief. And it’s important to remind listeners that I didn’t need anything from him and that him making amends and expressing his deep remorse was just the icing on the cake, because processing grief is an internal matter. Or the journey with grief and trauma is an internal matter,” Judd said.

The actress speaks very openly about her experiences with sexual abuse. She previously stated that she had been raped three times. One of these rapes resulted in a pregnancy that she had to abort.
