6 Houston Texans Make NFL Top 100 Players List

After a surprising playoff run with a rookie quarterback in 2023, expectations couldn’t be higher for the Houston Texans heading into 2024.

Pete Prisco of CBS Sports recently put together his list of the NFL’s top 100 players of 2024, which includes six Texas players. Here’s how Prisco ranks them and his outlook for the season.

#99 Edge Rusher Will Anderson Jr.

Will Anderson just slipped into the Top 100. “He was named Defensive Rookie of the Year after having seven sacks. But he was much more than those sack numbers and his talent shows a player who can make a big jump to 12-15 sacks this season,” Prisco said.

#80 cornerback Derek Stingley Jr.

Next on the list is ballhawking corner Derek Stingley Jr. Prisco has taken a toll on Houston’s standout defensive back. “After a disappointing rookie season in 2022, he showed star potential last year for the Texans. He’s a long corner capable of matching the coverage of the best receivers in the game.

Wide Receiver #77 Nico Collins

This is where we see the first offensive player listed on the roster. Prisco shares his thoughts on Houston’s top pass catcher. “After making 70 catches in his first two seasons, he had his breakout season in 2023 with 80 catches and an average of 16.2 yards per catch. He is definitely a major threat who should continue to grow under quarterback CJ Stroud.

#57 Left Tackle Laremy Tunsil

Prisco adds another offensive player to his roster here. “He’s one of the best in the league in pass protection, which is great news for CJ Stroud. His ability to hold his own in one-on-one situations is key to their offense,” Prisco said.

Quarterback #38 CJ Stroud

Can Stroud have an impressive sophomore season? “He was special as a rookie, leading the Texans to the playoffs. Now comes the hard part: starting again. I don’t think it’ll be a problem because he seems like he’s been a star for a long time,” Prisco said.

#35 Danielle Hunter

The latest player to make the list is the Texans’ prized offseason addition. “He had 16 1/2 sacks for the Vikings last season, continuing to be a force on the sideline. In Houston, he will team up with Will Anderson Jr. to give the Texans a nice passing duo,” Prisco said.

One glaring omission concerns Texas superstar wide receiver Stefon Diggs. Diggs had a rough year in 2023 by his standards. But don’t be surprised if Diggs makes this list next year after a bounce-back season with Stroud pulling the trigger at QB. And he’ll be highly motivated, with the possibility of another mega-contract in his sights.
