Bribery: Three police officers demand bribe, are suspended | Lucknow News

Lucknow: Two sub-inspectors and a superintendent of police have been suspended for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a fish farmer for releasing a pond lease in Amethi on Saturday. Fish farmer Maroof Ahmed of Shekhnagar accused the cops of demanding the bribe to facilitate the clearance by the local administration. Superintendent of Police Anoop Kumar Singh suspended sub-inspectors Amar Chandra Shukla and Veerendra Rai and superintendent of police Janardan Singh. The entire case has been handed over to the Musafirkhana circle collector for thorough investigation. Maroof had alleged that the cops not only demanded the bribe for releasing the lease but also threatened to falsely implicate him in a case and extorted another Rs 4,000 from him. The case attracted public attention after it made the rounds on social media, following which the superintendent of police suspended the cops.
