Bacolod City stops lending government vehicles

Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez has ordered the temporary suspension of the rental of vehicles of the City Government of Bacolod after the LGU’s tourist bus was involved in a car accident in Don Salvador Benedicto, Negros Occidental on June 14.

A public school teacher was killed in the traffic accident and more than 30 other people, mostly teachers, were injured.

Benitez also ordered the General Services Office to conduct regular inspections of all municipal vehicles.

Benitez said three other victims were still being treated for their injuries in different hospitals.

He ordered a thorough investigation into the incident to ensure that it does not happen again.

The Bacolod City Government has provided assistance to all injured passengers.*
