Phillip Fuqua becomes new police chief of Martin

PRESS RELEASE FROM MARTIN POLICE:

The Martin Police Department wishes to announce that on the evening of June 17, 2024, the Mayor and Martin City Council unanimously elected Deputy Chief Phillip Fuqua to succeed retiring Police Chief Don Teal as Chief of Police. Chief Teal will retire on July 5, 2024 after 41 years of service to the City of Martin.

Fuqua is a Martin native and 1988 graduate of Westview High School. He holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in criminal justice. He is a graduate of Session 271 of the FBI National Academy and the Southeastern Command and Leadership Academy at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He has held several positions during his 23-year career with the Martin Police Department.

Fuqua has been married to his wife, Staci Hazlewood Fuqua, for 33 years. They have three children, Abbie Fuqua McClure, Dusty Fuqua and Bennett Fuqua. Phillip and Staci also have four grandchildren: Warren, Falynn, Georgia and Banks. In their spare time, Phillip and Staci own and operate Mason Hill Livestock Farms on a family farm north of Martin.
