Police in Albertville arrest man for manslaughter

ALBERTVILLE, Alabama (WHNT) – Authorities say an Albertville man was arrested after officers found a man shot to death inside a home.

Albertville Deputy Police Chief John Amos said Colton Dozier was charged with manslaughter after authorities found shooting victim Daniel Long.

Amos said officers were dispatched to a home on Oneonta Cut-off Road because a man had been shot. When officers arrived at the scene, they met Dozier and after speaking with him, Dozier was arrested. Authorities found Long at the scene suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Two women and children were also found at this address.

The deputy chief said Long was taken to Marshall Medical Center South, where he succumbed to his injuries. Dozier was taken to Albertville Jail and charged with manslaughter.

According to authorities, Dozier is currently being held in the Marshall County Jail on $50,000 bail.
