Man arrested in connection with nighttime shooting on East Virginia Beach Boulevard

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A man was arrested after shooting and wounding another man overnight.

Shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday, Norfolk police were called to the Broadway Club in the 5600 block of East Virginia Beach Boulevard after receiving a report of a gunshot victim.


Upon their arrival, the police found that the victim had already left the crime scene.

Shortly thereafter, officers were notified that a man had arrived at Sentara Leigh Hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Police confirmed that this was the same victim from the East Virginia Beach Boulevard shooting.

Police said Luis E. Martino-Rosario, 34, of Chesapeake, was arrested at the scene as a result of their investigation and charged with willful assault, use of a firearm and discharging a firearm in public.

Martino-Rosario is currently being held without bail in the Norfolk City Jail and faces another charge unrelated to this shooting.
