Houston Dynamo FC earns 2-2 draw against Atlanta United FC

Houston Dynamo FC managed a 2-2 draw against Atlanta United FC at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, thanks to goals from Franco Escobar and Latif Blessing.

The match started favorably for Houston, with defender Franco Escobar scoring in the fifth minute. Escobar took advantage of a rebound in the area following a corner from captain Hector Herrera. Herrera’s first effort hit the crossbar and fell to Escobar, who quickly converted the chance.

Atlanta United equalized in the 25th minute when Thiago Almada scored a rebound after a Daniel Rios shot. The home side then took the lead in the 54th minute through Xande Silva, who scored with a right-footed shot into the box.

Houston goalkeeper Steve Clark made his first crucial save of the night, preserving the team’s chances when Xande Silva attempted another shot on goal.

Defender Griffin Dorsey had two big chances in quick succession, with efforts in the 29th and 31st minutes both resulting in corner kicks as Atlanta’s defense held firm.

Just before halftime, Dorsey prepared a shot from midfielder Aliyu Ibrahim, but Atlanta goalkeeper Brad Guzan made a key save.

In the second half, Artur and Hector Herrera both tried from long range in the 60th and 62nd minutes respectively, but neither found the target.

Latif Blessing gave the Houston Dynamo a point by scoring the equalizer in the 90th minute, finishing the match at 2-2.
