3 people arrested after drugs and weapons found during traffic stop in Georgetown County

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WCSC) – The Georgetown County Sheriff says three people, including two minors, have been charged with multiple offenses after weapons and drugs were found during a traffic stop.

Omar Sumpter, 21, is charged with obstruction and obstruction of an officer, officials said in a social media post.

Two juveniles, whose names were not released because of their age, are charged with possession of handguns. One of the juveniles is also charged with possession of marijuana, according to the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office.

Officers said they stopped a vehicle on Thursday after noticing several people in the vehicle wearing masks and hoodies.

During the search, sniffer dog Dukat found three handguns and 13.78 grams of marijuana. The sheriff said one of the weapons was equipped with a switch that could convert it to fully automatic and an extended magazine.

Sumpter was remanded to the Georgetown County Detention Center pending a bail hearing.
