City of St. Cloud honors team for rapid recovery from cybersecurity incident

At the regular City Council meeting, the City of St. Cloud honored a dedicated team of employees as Team of the month for their outstanding efforts following a serious cybersecurity incident in late March. This team quickly led the recovery and rebuilding of the city’s network infrastructure.

Their services include:

• Restore and over 700 devices deleted.
• reconstruction more than 90 servers.
• Restoration over 90 terabytes of data.
• Guarantee timely processing of all invoices and payroll statements.

Typically, communities can expect downtime ranging from 30 to 180 days when recovering from cyber incidents. Remarkably, St. Cloud’s team completed the entire recovery process in just 21 days, significantly exceeding the national average.

Their rapid and effective response ensured that disruption to city operations was kept to a minimum and underscored their exceptional commitment and technical expertise in addressing and overcoming cyber threats.
