The depraved and dangerous Sean Yip was jailed for the rape of a little girl

A child rapist has been sentenced to more than 16 years in prison for his heinous abuse.

Monster Sean Yip, 36, from the Holmfirth area, was locked up after pleading guilty to two counts of rape of a child under 13 and one count of sexual assault.

He is now beginning his 16.5-year prison sentence after his victim bravely came forward and reported his abuser. West Yorkshire Police were informed of his heinous crimes on January 8 and immediately launched an investigation led by Kirklees Child Protection Unit.

Yip was arrested, charged and remanded in custody the same day. The 36-year-old will have to sign the sex offenders’ register for life after his release from prison.

DC Kayleigh Moorhouse, of Kirklees District Safeguarding Unit, said: “We welcome YIP’s conviction for the horrific offences committed against a young victim who was unable to defend herself against him.

“He subjected his young victim to a horrific ordeal and his actions show that he is clearly a danger to children. I would like to commend the victim’s courage in reporting what happened and the courage of her family in supporting the prosecution service to put Yip behind bars.

“We are grateful that the victim and her family have at least been spared the ordeal of a trial, and we hope that they can take some comfort in knowing that he has been convicted.”
